- How effective is Botox®?
- Is Botox® safe?
- How Botox® administered?
- Is there any downtime after Botox®?
If these questions have ever cross your mind, we’ve got the answers. Read on for everything you need to know about Botox®.
What does Botox® do?
Botox® treatments use a neurotoxin called Botulinum Toxin that blocks the nerve signals to muscles. The treatment is commonly used for cosmetic and medical procedures to induce temporary muscle paralysis, an effect that can diminish wrinkles, reduce excessive sweating in glands, and relax overactive or tightened muscles.
How effective is Botox®?
Botox® offers an excellent alternative to plastic surgery, since Botox® can produce a significant reduction in facial wrinkles and muscle tightness with no need for surgical incisions or associated downtime to heal. Best of all, the results from Botox® last anywhere from 3 to 6 months, so you can enjoy a rejuvenated look long after your treatment.
Is Botox safe?
When administered by a trained Botox® specialist, Botox® is highly safe. The treatment uses an extremely small amount of Botulinum Toxin to ensure that the intended effect is restricted just to the treatment area. Botox® has been used to treat many different conditions over the past few decades, with over 6 million Botox® treatments to date!
How Botox® administered?
Your treatment specialist marks the areas for treatment, applies a numbing cream, makes a few tiny injections in the target area, and then you’re set to carry on with the rest of your day.
Most procedures are complete in under 60 minutes and you’ll notice a reduction in wrinkles or muscle tension in the treatment area within a few days.
Is there any downtime after Botox®?
Since Botox® involves a series of small injections, there is minimal downtime after the procedure. It’s comparable to getting blood work—you may notice some moderate swelling or redness in the area immediately after treatment, but this usually subsides within a few hours.
