Non-Invasive and Minimally Invasive Skin Care Procedures

Many patients would like to improve the appearance or texture of their skin, but the long recovery times and invasive nature of surgery deters them from opting procedures such as face lifts. Fortunately, there are several milder treatments for problems such as loss of skin elasticity, age spots, or acne scars. At Perfexion, we offer a range of noninvasive treatments that includes microdermabrasion, chemical peels, and Botox.

Microdermabrasion

Microdermabrasion is a short and noninvasive procedure designed to address skin conditions such as photoaging, dark spots, acne, or acne scars. Using a crystal-based system or a crystal-free system, the skincare provider passes abrasive, hypoallergenic materials (such as aluminum oxide crystals or a diamond microdermabrasion tool) over the patient’s skin. This abrades and exfoliates the top layer of skin. The procedure takes fifteen to twenty minutes, and the patient may require multiple visits to get optimal results.

Chemical Peels

Chemical peeling is a skincare technique in which the top layers of the skin are exfoliated using a chemical. At our clinic, we use denatured alcohol, salicylic acids, resorsorcinol, lactic acid, pantheno, and isoceth-20. Chemical peels are usually done on the face, but may also be applied to other areas of the body where the patient wants refreshed and rejuvenated-looking skin.

The peel can be light or deep, depending on the amount of chemicals use and the duration of time the peel is left on the skin. The treatment may be repeated a few times over several weeks or months, depending on the client’s skin condition and the desired result.

Botox

Botox is one of the most popular treatments for giving skin a firmer and more youthful appearance. It is a muscle relaxant that is injected into areas of the face where creases, wrinkles, and lines form. The procedure takes only a few minutes, although results are best seen after one to two weeks. The effects last three to six months. For areas such as the lower face, lower doses with more touch-ups may give better results than larger doses.
